Art critics play an important role in communicating art to the general public. Critics are usually specialised in a specific artform, and they offer their expert opinion in discussions about artistic content.
The Ministry of Education and Culture provides financial assistance to the Finnish Critics' Association, which was founded in 1950 and has over 900 members.
